Located in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Penn’s Northeast region is a four-county area
consisting of Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe and Wayne Counties.
Centrally located on the east coast, Penn’s Northeast is within a 500 mile radius of one third of
the U.S. population. Five major interstate highways; I-80, I-81, I-476, I-380 and I-84 run through the
region providing direct access to major metro cities. The ports of Philadelphia, New York and Newark
are within a 2 hour drive. Two Class 1 railroads, Canadian Pacific and Norfolk Southern, along with
numerous short line railroads and an intermodal facility operate within the region.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) is the primary airport serving the
Penn's Northeast region. Major hub airports including Philadelphia, JFK and Newark are within a short
driving distance.
The region has developed a strong manufacturing, distribution and back-office base and is
home to numerous foreign owned companies. In recent years, many national companies have
identified the region as a premier logistics center to access east coast markets.
Many companies are attracted to Penn’s Northeast by the ample supply of buildings and land
sites that exist throughout the area. Buildings range from well maintained properties in central
business districts, to modern flex space in area business parks and Class A suburban office buildings.
Fully improved parcels, often served by dual power and dual telecommunications, can be purchased in
dozens of local office and business parks.
