manufactured food products. From meat and poultry to chocolate and baked goods, the food
processing industry in Pennsylvania accounts for $28 billion in annual sales.
> Pennsylvania’s more than 2,500 food processing and
manufacturing companies are ranked among the
nation’s top in the value of shipments of canned fruit
and vegetable specialty products, chocolate and cocoa
products, potato chips and pretzels.
> The commonwealth leads the Northeast in the food
industry, ranking 4th in the nation in terms of the
number of food-related companies it houses. Its snack
food and confectionery business generates more than
$5.1 billion in annual sales.

high priority on quality assurance for our plants

> Pennsylvania’s meat, poultry and fish products
generate more than $4.3 billion in sales annually.
> Pennsylvania leads the U.S. in mushroom production, with
an annual production of more than 425 million pounds,
valuing more than $330.7 million per year. This accounts
for more than 62% of all U.S. mushroom production.
